Week in PA

This past week, my mom and I were in PA. We had a blast being with the family.

On July 3rd we celebrated my Mom's birthday! She's the best Mom ever. One of the things I like most about my mom is the way she encourages me by sending me encouraging notes and by praying for me. I am thankful to God for her! Love you!

Later that day Dad and I went to see Public Enemies, which is about the life of John Dillinger. The movie was very accurate to his story.
For the 4th of July, we had a picnic in Pennsylvania then went to see fireworks in Carlisle! The kids loved sitting on top of the car while watching the fireworks! It was a blast! Chris and I

Mom and I tried this new place called "Neato Burrito" for lunch yesterday.

Then we visited my Grandma Kovlak-she's one of my favorite nurses!On our way home, Mom and I stopped at the Gettysburg Outlets and got a pretzel. YUM! It was nice to be able to spend the week in PA since I'm home from school. I enjoy seeing all my family! Fun times!

Summer

Summer has been pretty busy so far since I've been home. Here's what I've been up to:

First, I'm blessed to be able to watch Hailey during the summer. She is full of energy and fun to be around. We have done many fun things this summer. We love being outside the most, playing at the pool or park.

Second, Brittany's wedding. I loved doing errands with Britt this summer in preparation for her wedding; whether it was going to her dress fitting, ordering cake or printing programs. I loved spending time with her and made some great memories driving her around! She's the Best!

Third, I've also been taking an online literature class this summer. I am taking it for a couple of reasons. First of all I need it in order to graduate! Second,  I don't really care for english so I wanted to get it over with as soon as possible. Luckily it is only for a month and I will finally be done with the class this week!! : ) I've actually really enjoyed this class, I enjoy reading when I have the time and summer is a perfect time to sit and read. 

I'm so thankful for a fun filled summer so far. God has been so kind!

PCU

School has finally ended! I am so thankful for yet another wonderful year at school . God has been so kind. I absolutely loved clinicals this semester. On the first day of clinicals, when I was walking through the halls I just KNEW that God has called me to be a nurse. I find such joy being in the hospital and interacting with all different kinds of people. And I want to use my job as a nurse to share the gospel and bring God glory.

This semester we worked on the Progressive Cardiac Unit and I loved it. I met so many wonderful people. Our clinicals were from about 2:30-10pm on Mondays. We were each assigned an RN and a patient for the day. The RNs were so kind and patient to teach us things. It was awesome to be able to do the things that we have been learning ALL year. A day consisted of a health assessment of the patient, taking vital signs, glucometer checks, medication administration, etc. Injections were a blast, my teacher was there with me for my first injection. Honestly, I didn't feel nervous at all and the patient was very sweet.

These ladies are going to be amazing nurses! We have made some great memories this semester! After our last clinical, we all went out to eat to celebrate a great semester!

Once again, God is so kind for an amazing year! I am looking forward to next year. Next year we will be going to the hospital two times a week. I will be taking Peds on Mondays and Med-surg on Fridays and also Pharmacology. I'm excited to see what God has in store!

Injections!

Our last check off for this semester was on injections. Each nursing student got a baggy of different medicines (insulin, heprin, etc). These drugs are just for practice. We are allowed to come to the lab and practice on the dummies. I am nervous, but excited to get ready to do this in the hospital.

The little bean bag looking thing and the thing in front of it are what we use to put our injections into. It is suppose to feel like giving an injection to a real person.

Here is our sharps box! It's very important to NEVER re-cap a needle, cause you risk sticking yourself. : )We will be going to the hospital in about a week. I can't wait to put into practice all that I've learned this year. I pray that God will use all of the Liberty nursing students to be a light to all around us!
