PCU

School has finally ended! I am so thankful for yet another wonderful year at school . God has been so kind. I absolutely loved clinicals this semester. On the first day of clinicals, when I was walking through the halls I just KNEW that God has called me to be a nurse. I find such joy being in the hospital and interacting with all different kinds of people. And I want to use my job as a nurse to share the gospel and bring God glory.

This semester we worked on the Progressive Cardiac Unit and I loved it. I met so many wonderful people. Our clinicals were from about 2:30-10pm on Mondays. We were each assigned an RN and a patient for the day. The RNs were so kind and patient to teach us things. It was awesome to be able to do the things that we have been learning ALL year. A day consisted of a health assessment of the patient, taking vital signs, glucometer checks, medication administration, etc. Injections were a blast, my teacher was there with me for my first injection. Honestly, I didn't feel nervous at all and the patient was very sweet.

These ladies are going to be amazing nurses! We have made some great memories this semester! After our last clinical, we all went out to eat to celebrate a great semester!

Once again, God is so kind for an amazing year! I am looking forward to next year. Next year we will be going to the hospital two times a week. I will be taking Peds on Mondays and Med-surg on Fridays and also Pharmacology. I'm excited to see what God has in store!

Injections!

Our last check off for this semester was on injections. Each nursing student got a baggy of different medicines (insulin, heprin, etc). These drugs are just for practice. We are allowed to come to the lab and practice on the dummies. I am nervous, but excited to get ready to do this in the hospital.

The little bean bag looking thing and the thing in front of it are what we use to put our injections into. It is suppose to feel like giving an injection to a real person.

Insulin injections

Here is our sharps box! It's very important to NEVER re-cap a needle, cause you risk sticking yourself. : )We will be going to the hospital in about a week. I can't wait to put into practice all that I've learned this year. I pray that God will use all of the Liberty nursing students to be a light to all around us!

CO/ Medication Administration

This week we checked off on Medication Administration. Our lab has "patients" with medical charts. We were able to read their charts and get their medicines prepared. This was great practice because we will be doing this in a few more weeks in the hospital!

Next week is our last week for check offs. We will be learning how to give injections and I will most definately be getting pictures.

Here is a list of 33 random facts about me. Notes have been going around facebook having people write 25 random facts about themselves, so I thought I'd shake it up a bit and add some more. LOL

1. I take a nap every Wednesday (I think i've missed one Wednesday so far lol).
2. I like surprising people, but I HATE surprises.
3. I want to be buried in my purple american eagle hoodie.
4. I love spending quality time with people.
5. I keep my phone under my pillow when I sleep and check the time if I wake up in the middle of the night.
6. I've always hated the dr (nurses, etc), yet I want to be a nurse.
7. My stethoscope is orange in honor of Micah.
8. I am the youngest of five girls and I couldn't have ask for a better family.
9. I love crushed ice.
10. I have 3 alarms set to wake me up in the morning.
11. I hate shopping for no reason.
12. I love kareoke and I wish I could sing.
13. I could watch Pride and Prejudice (2 hr one) over and over again.
14. I like to collect random things I find on the ground or on the floor.
15. I have to write my name on everything.
16. I can't go to sleep unless my room is somewhat clean.
